Our 9-11 Memorial Project is going forward.

Since 1989, "Service Above Self" has been the motto of Rotarians around the world.
In 2001, the firefighters of New York City exemplified that motto when they
responded to the scene of the 9‐11 tragedy. 343 brave men made the
ultimate sacrifice when they gave their lives in the call of duty.In recognition of their actions, the Rotary Club of Greeley ‐ Centennial and the Rotarians of District 5440, in
partnership with the Rotary Club of New York, have established the Rotary 9‐11 Memorial, selecting the sculpture "Every Day a Hero" as the monument to be donated and dedicated to the Fire Department of New York City on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the collapse of the World Trade Center towers. "Every Day a Hero" was sculpted by Greeley artist and Rotarian Colette Pitcher and cast by Gary Pitcher, also a local Rotarian. First designed in 2002, "Every Day a Hero" is a life‐sized bronze sculpture depicting a firefighter engaged in his work. For the Rotary 9‐11 Memorial, the sculpture will be customized to include uniform insignia appropriate to the heroes of 9‐11, thus making the memorial sculpture one of a kind.

To complete the memorial, Rotarians from the Greeley Centennial Club and District 5440 will raise $30,000 for the customization, casting, transportation and installation of the sculpture/memorial. The Rotary Club of New York will use their resources to arrange for the installation site, necessary permits and ceremonies. Any funds collected in excess of the cost of creation and  installation of the memorial will be donated to the Rotary Foundation.

Donation information is available on the downloadable brochure on this website under "Every Day a Hero".  Please join us in making this memorial a reality!
