We heard from Schaefer Enterprises last week. Schaefer has serviced Greeley and Weld County since 1952. It was started by a dedicated group of parents because at the time there was not a group or program for adults or children with developmental disabilities. Schaefer has a wide variety of services to keep people with developmental disabilities working. To name a couple, Schaefer has a “Scoop it up” service that cleans up after dogs and a Mobile Document Destruction that has customers all over Norther Colorado and Wyoming.
Schaefer prides it’s on the participants being able to make choices as far as the work they want to do or the social activities they would like to participate in. The participants make a competitive wage with their programs. Schaefer is one of the best kept secrets in Weld County. Please consider using one of their services or shopping at the Twice as Nice thrift store.
A big portion of their funding comes from Medicaid, but they are looking for outside funding or sponsorships because of the current events of the Federal Government. Thank you to Tim Schwartzkopf and Roz White for all that you do for the developmental disability community and taking the time to speak to our club.
